This
lovely porch addition was part of a kitchen remodel that included replacing
the bay window in the dining room with new French doors for better access to
the new porch. The new addition is very large and gives them lots of space to
enjoy the summers without the mosquitoes. The skylights add more light, the
fans provide light and breeze, and the tile floor is easy care. We repaired
their existing brick walkway and made it a second entrance to the porch from
the outdoors. The other entrance faces the driveway. The porch is built with
a retaining wall against the hillside, which is decorated in slate to match
the new patio on the opposite side. The two tone decor is used both inside and
out, and we provided texture in the inside with bead board along the knee wall.
