This
open kitchen at the rear of the home needed an update. The configuration
was not comfortable and did not take full advantage of the access and views
of the backyard patio and deck. We extended the kitchen into the dining
area, with the butler pantry, and tucked an additional storage pantry into
the hallway leading into the foyer. The peninsula gives the family additional
seating room for informal dining, with bead board wrapping the cabinet end
and peninsula leg, and a serving area for more formal dining. We installed
a wine rack over the refrigerator, and enclosed all of it with wood panels
for a more formal look. The upper cabinetry has glass doors facing the dining
area, for displaying china. The backsplash is tumbled tile with a pattern
of varying shades for interest. |
