The homeowner
of this kitchen wanted a more luxurious look in the kitchen. They already
had wonderful rosewood flooring througout the home, including the kitchen,
and they wanted something that matched that look. They also did not like the
pantry cabinet that was just inside the kitchen door from the entry foyer,
and was visible to guests entering the home. We removed the pantry cabinet
and replaced it with the corner wrap around cabinet you see here, which now
displays crystal in nicely lit glass front cabinets, and has an attractive
tumbled tile backsplash and granite counter top to compliment it. There is
also space to display something attractive on the counter to make it more
appealing to guests when they walk in the front door. The cabinetry she chose
was a rich dark cherry finish on a contemporary shaker design, giving the
kitchen a rich look with clean lines. The backsplash tiles are tumbled marble
in neutral tones that compliment the dark cabinetry and set it off with varying
tones. The professional refrigerator is paneled to match the cabinets, and
they are all full height to the ceiling. We also matched up the rosewood flooring
where we removed the small penninsula cabinet that jutted out into the traffic
area. The new configuration makes better use of the existing space in the
kitchen, which feels much larger without having been enlarged at all. The
homeowner says people comment on how much they have enlarged the kitchen now.
How nice to have that feeling without having to actually go to all of that
trouble!
