This lovely kitchen/dining and family room combination arose out of the need
for better flow in this kitchen, and the homeowners desire to have a moving
island, which we designed with a wine rack for them, and a book shelf, which
we built into the short wall between the dining area and the family room. The
warm wood tones of the cabinetry give this kitchen a richer look than the white
painted one it had before, and removing the soffits allowed us to install larger
cabinets, making up for the space we removed in the peninsula. We removed the
peninsula to give it better flow with the dining area next to it. This also
gave them more room for their table, which they can keep open to a larger size.
The lighting we installed also helps give a richer look, and more even lighting
than the fluorescent fixture they had before. They now have a bookcase at the
step down into the family room, which gives them plenty of storage space for
books and remotes. |
