The old kichen in this bungalow home was closed in and not a good use of space.
Since the kitchen was such a central point in the home, we wanted to open it
up to the family room and make it more inviting. The homeowner has a pastel
and deep red color scheme in the decor, which we picked up in the deep red granite
of the counter and backsplash. The natural maple cabinetry created lots more
storage space as well as an eating counter and large pantry surrounding the
refrigerator and double wall ovens. This space had contained a double closet
pantry, which was a huge waste of space. The new cabinets hold more than before,
and have the refrigerator and ovens in the same space. The full backsplash of
granite gives the kitchen a rich look, and ties it to the family room next door.
The decorative pendant lamps help give the kitchen a feeling of elegance, not
just functionality. This kitchen was reconfigured by moving plumbing and drains
in the slab so we could locate the dishwasher near the sink. The previous kitchen
had not had a dishwasher. |
